A big thank you to the 78 people turned up for our Easter Orienteering Challenge, from the very young (aged 1) to the young at heart (aged 72).  It was great to see so many families enjoying riding together.  You can read about it in the Adver  in print or here http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/15228972.Cyclists_hit_the_streets_in_orienteering_bonanza/.   I would point out that there were only two people in Lycra, though a few in hi viz jackets.  The pictures on line are good.  Thanks to The Swindon Advertiser for covering this event

Although it was just a bit of fun, we have made a few simple prizes available to the highest scorers in each category

1 Hour  Stygal and Hopkins both on 170 points

2 Hour  Martin and Hopes both on 550 Points

3 Hours Fisher on 750 Points

Your prizes will be available, and can be collected from,  Mitchel Cycles  (27 Shrivenham Rd, Swindon, Wiltshire SN1 2QA Tel 01793 523306 )  in a few days time

You can view the results by hitting the link below.  We have only provided family names and put the results in start time order.  If you were late back we may have put you into a different hour category, and unless you were very late we didn’t apply the penalty points with any rigor.

For those of you who could not find Check Point 1 we assure you it was there.  We checked afterwards and here is a photo

CP01

The check points are permanent so you can use  your map, which has a control card printed on the a back, with a control description sheet which can be downloaded by clicking on the link below to set up your own event.

Control Description Sheet No Points

This sheet has no points so you can allocate your own values depending upon where you live, or start from.  Close ones score 10, the furthest away score 50. or just select a route of points and have an explore

Please feel free to promote the map and the concept of  cycle orienteering to your friends and family.  It should prove a useful school or youth group activity, perhaps to gain a “Cycling Badge”  or  why not enjoy a cycling BBQ with your friends.
